What's "Embedded Mode"?

Embedded Mode is a feature in Welcome Mat that allows you to place your Mat exactly where you want it to appear on your page. The Mat will no longer automatically load full-page and take over your visitor's browser.

You can enable Embedded Mode by following these steps:

  • Open List Builder in the Sumo Launcher

  • Select the Welcome Mat you want to enable Embedded Mode on

  • Navigate to Step 4, Visibility and make sure Manual Mode is selected

  • Locate Display Mode in the middle and select the drop down menu

  • Select Embedded in the "Display Mode" dropdown menu

Automatic embedding

By default, Embedded Mode will automatically place your Welcome Mat below the fold in your visitors' browsers.

The only exceptions to this are the following:

  • You are using manual embedding.

  • The browser viewing your page is too tall or the length of your page is too short for the Mat to fit below the fold. In this case, the Mat will be embedded at the very bottom of the page.

You can see a great example of an automatically embedded Welcome Mat here: https://sumome.com/example/welcome-mat/embedded

Manual embedding

An alternative to automatic embedding of your Welcome Mat is "Manual Embedding".

A manually embedded Welcome Mat will be positioned exactly where you set it to be. This is useful if you want to place the Mat in a spot other than below the fold in your visitors' browsers.

To do this:

  • Open List Builder in the Sumo Launcher

  • Select the Welcome Mat you want to enable Embedded Mode on

  • Navigate to Step 4, Visibility and make sure Manual Mode is selected

  • Locate Display Mode in the middle and select the drop down menu

  • Select Embedded in the "Display Mode" dropdown menu

  • Click on the link below the dropdown menu Manually Control Placement

  • Copy the HTML snippet there and paste it into your page where you want it to appear
