Some BDOW! forms come with dedicated mobile settings to ensure optimal performance and usability. Below, you’ll find a quick guide to building mobile campaign forms on BDOW! and how you can customize specific tools.

Tips for best results

  1. Preview Before Publishing. Always test how your forms and tools look on mobile devices. Use BDOW!’s preview feature or check directly on your phone. You can also use the mobile emulation tool to test on Chrome.

  2. Keep it Simple. Mobile screens are smaller, so avoid overloading your forms with too much text or too many fields.

  3. Adjust Placements. Use BDOW!’s settings to position tools strategically. For example, avoid placing forms where they might block navigation menus.

  4. Apply Display Rules. When it makes sense to do so, Display Rules allow you to target specific device types. You can design campaign forms specifically for mobile users, and then use Display Rules to ensure that the forms only appear on mobile devices.

Customizing the Welcome Mat for mobile devices

The Welcome Mat is fully responsive and ensures a smooth, user-friendly experience on mobile devices. Unlike other form types, the Welcome Mat also has multiple display options so that it can be properly resized to smaller screens.

  1. Access the BDOW! site manager and edit your Welcome Mat campaign form.

  2. On the Display tab, note that you have both Landscape and Portrait modes to work with.

Configure both to ensure the best experience for your visitors, regardless of device.

Customizing the Share app

*Note the Share app is a legacy feature that is not available to all BDOW! users.

The Share app is designed to look fantastic on mobile devices. It includes the following mobile-friendly features:

  • Mobile-Optimized Share Bar. Automatically adapts the size and layout of the share bar for smaller screens. You can specify the width in pixels at which time the app should switch to mobile mode, set the shares to display as a list or grid, and choose whether hide the share bar until the user scrolls down. Access these configuration items on the Share Settings tab and scrolling down to the Mobile section.

  • Mobile-Specific Placements. Adjust where the Share Bar appears, such as at the top, bottom, or floating along the side of the screen for better accessibility.

  • Mobile-Specific Services. Establish a distinct set of services that will only appear in the Share Bar for mobile users. Configure the list by navigating to the Share app's Mobile Optimized tab, toggling the feature, and selecting the relevant services.

Testing BDOW! mobile features

Using Mobile Emulation in Google Chrome is easy and will allow you test various BDOW! (formerly Sumo) apps in mobile mode right in your desktop browser. You can view Welcome Mats, Popups and Scroll Boxes in various device sizes such as tablet and mobile phone mode. This will be helpful to be sure all of your BDOW! Mat and Popups are displaying correctly when being viewed on mobile devices!

  1. Launch Chrome and visit your website.

  2. Right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect. You can also use the Ctrl+Shift+C keyboard shortcut on Windows or Cmd+Opt+C on a Mac.

  3. Click the Toggle Device Toolbar button

  4. Now that mobile emulation is enabled, you can switch between different devices and get a preview of how your site will appear.

When you are finished, simply toggle the device toolbar button and close the develop tools pane.
