The Shopify app is currently unavailable. A new Shopify app experience is coming soon!

This is BDOW!'s MOST effective strategy for recovering revenue from potential customers who fail to purchase.

  • Capture emails + recover lost sales at the same time.

  • Recover lost sales by offering your visitor an enticing discount or value offer as they attempt to leave your cart or checkouts page.

  • BDOW! (formerly Sumo) can detect their exit intent and deploy this strategy, bringing them back into the purchase funnel right then or at a later date via BDOW!'s auto response email.

  • The exclusive discount code is delivered on the success message of form itself along with our BDOW! Autoresponder email.

How do I set this up?

You can easily set this up using BDOW! Shortcuts, step-by-step wizards for launching proven strategies.

Click on our Monetize > Shortcuts menu item to start the wizard.

Click Create New Shortcut and kick off the Reduce Cart Abandonment option. Follow the steps to set up this strategy.

Building your forms

When setting up this strategy, you need to choose your discount offer. A 10% discount offer is our recommended starting place. Expect to see higher conversion rates the higher discount you offer.

A few other ideas to test (configurable in the Discount field):

  • Dollar Amount Offer:

    • Try testing $ discount vs. % discount of the same amount. If your AOV is $100, try $10 off instead of 10% off.

  • The “Weird % Offer”:

    • Try 7% or 9% off. We’ve seen a smaller discount amounts outperform round figures, like 10% or 20%

  • Free Shipping:

    • Free shipping has almost become expected by visitors. However, you should definitely test this offer to see if it performs for your unique audience.

Beyond the discount, go ahead and tweak the color scheme and text copy to suit your brand.

Editing the success form

Remember, there are multiple forms to configure in this strategy. Make sure to click Next and customize your success popup, too! The color scheme will be the same as your initial form, but you can edit the messaging.

Customizing the return form

The last form to configure is a Smart Bar. When your visitor returns to your site using a discount code email, BDOW! will recognize it and display the discount code at the top of the screen. Direct them to checkout! The code will be applied automatically!

Creating the discount code email

Step 2 is to customize the email containing the discount code (which will be sent when a user subscribes via the first popup). It will inherit the color palette from your earlier forms for a consistent look and feel.

A key component to the strategy is the Button URL field, which sets the destination of the call-to-action button. You'll see that it is pre-populated to link to your site and contains a discount parameter:

Configuring the form's visibility

Step 3 is where you tell BDOW! about your checkout page so that the form appears when you need it to (if the visitor abandons their cart). By default, this popup will appear on any page with "cart", "checkout", or "checkouts" in the URL. You can add a new word if your checkout has a different path, however:

What are Advanced Display Rules?

When creating your Shortcut, you have the option to edit BDOW!'s pre-set Shortcut display rules. If you enable Advanced Display Rules, you can choose where the form appears with much more granularity by leveraging the Display Rules editor from our List Builder tool.
