Getting started with Contacts

You can communicate with your subscriber list easily, right from BDOW!.

Written by Cassandra Campbell

The Contacts area lets you quickly view and communicate with your subscriber list, no third-party email service provider (ESP) required. ESP integrations are great, but an email service might not make sense for your business, or maybe you just want to send a quick, targeted message (you have the flexibility to use BDOW!'s native messaging alongside an ESP).

You can target subscribers and send them more relevant messages based on which Form they signed up on, the date they subscribed, or even their country.

Working with your subscriber list

When you first open the site manager, you'll see your list of subscribers in the Contacts menu. There are a few things you can do here.

Filters

You can filter your subscriber list using a few criteria found in the search tool above the Contact table:

  • Name. If you've been capturing the names of your subscribers using extra fields on your campaign form, you can use this filter to search subscribers by name.

  • Email Address. You can search for subscribers by email address:

  • Signup Date. Filter subscribers who signed up before, after, or on a specific date:

  • Country. Search for subscribers by Country:

  • Source. Find subscribers who signed up through a selected campaign form:

Downloading your subscriber list

If you want to download your subscriber list, hover over the action dropdown (located to the upper right of the table) and select Export CSV.

Viewing subscriber details

If you click on one of your subscribers in the Contacts list, you can see many details about them, including:

  • Email address

  • Date subscribed

  • Subscriber's country

  • The original campaign form on which they subscribed

  • User Agent (browser details)

  • Subscriber's browser/operating system

  • Plus, any other fields they filled out on the form

Sending an Email to subscribers

  1. In order to send emails, the recipients must be groups. Select the subscribers you wish to communicate with, then hover over the action dropdown and click Add to Group.

  2. Once a group is ready, you can click Create Email to start designing your message.

  3. Click Next to finalize your recipient groups.

  4. Finally, click Save and Send to send the message.

After sending, you'll be taken to the Email area where you can see the status of any outgoing emails you're sending.

Here you can see any past messages you've sent, and the stats from each email. Use the three dots menu to the right to access the stats graph as well as a few additional options. For example, you can review the email content and also "duplicate" it (effectively, this option allows you to use an existing email as a starting template to send a new message).

Deleting subscribers

In the event you no longer want an email address, go to the Contacts tool.

  1. Select the subscriber(s) you want to delete.

  2. Hover over the action dropdown and select Remove Subscribers.

  3. On the confirmation dialog, click Remove to proceed.
