Why can't I see my BDOW! form?

Here are a few things to check if your campaign forms do not appear.

It can be frustrating if you have campaign forms built and ready to go, but they are not appearing on your website as expected. Assuming that the embed script is properly installed, here are some common items to check:

View your site in an Incognito window

BDOW! (formerly Sumo) uses cookies to determine if a form will display to a visitor. By default, once a visitor has subscribed through your form, the visitor will not be able to see it again until this cookie expires. Even if a visitor sees your form without subscribing, they may not see it again for a certain amount of time, depending on your settings. So while it may seem like things are not working, BDOW! is just keeping the forms from appearing too often.

We highly recommend viewing your site in a brand new Google Chrome Incognito window to test your website as if you were a new visitor (other browsers will have a similar private/incognito feature). This will ensure that there aren't any cookies preventing your form from displaying.

To test your popups in Chrome's Incognito Mode:

  1. Open Google Chrome

  2. Click File > New Incognito Window

  3. Navigate to your website

You can also view your site in an Incognito Window with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows or Command+Shift+N on Mac.

Ensure your form is published

In order to check the status of your campaign form, navigate to Campaigns > Forms of the BDOW! site builder. Next, check the status of your form. In the example below, the form is in Paused mode and will not display. If you save a draft without publishing, it will be Paused.

To publish the form, hover on Edit and select Resume Form from the dropdown menu:

Afterwards, you will see the status change to Active.

Ensure your Display Rules are correctly setup

Display Rules allow you to have more granular control over when a campaign form should appear. They are not configured by default, but if you have included some rules in your form, you may want to double-check their configuration.

There are some subtle effects at play, such as the precedence of Show vs. Don't Show rules. In fact, we have an entire article dedicated to troubleshooting Display Rules.

Check for conflicts with other forms

Due to Yield Tech, which is enabled by default, when more than one popup-style form is eligible to display on the same page at the same time, it will be a 50/50 tossup as to which one actually displays on the page.

Note that this does not apply to Click Triggers or Inline Forms. You can have more than one Click Trigger or Inline Form on a single page.

If you need more than one Welcome Mat, Popup, Scroll Box, or Social Proof stream to appear on the same page, you can consider establishing more granular Display Rules to govern exactly when each of the forms should appear. For example, configure the Welcome Mat to appear on mobile, but a Popup on desktop devices.

However, you do have the option to disable Yield Tech, if necessary. You can do this by navigating to the Visibility tab within your form, disabling Smart Mode, and viewing the Advanced Settings.
