Smart Mode and Timed visibility settings

Control the exact timing to trigger a campaign popup, or let BDOW! handle the details.

Written by Cassandra Campbell

BDOW! has two types of trigger modes in a campaign's Visibility settings:

  • Smart Mode (default)

  • Timed

This setting tells BDOW! exactly how you wish to trigger the popup. By default, Smart Mode is used. Smart Mode detects when visitors are about to leave the page, which causes your popup to trigger. A Timed configuration triggers your popup after X seconds.

Enabling Smart Mode

Smart Mode is the default trigger behavior.

Smart Mode takes into consideration your users behavior, and will display the campaign form as they are attempting to leave your site. If a user lands on a page but clicks on a link and traverses within your site, Smart Mode will not be triggered.

To test, open an Incognito / Private browser window and bring up a URL where you have a Smart Mode popup set to appear. Wait until the page fully loads, move your mouse up to the address bar and click.

Here's how to set it up:

  1. Use the design tool to edit a campaign form.

  2. Click the Visibility to access the display settings.

  3. Ensure that the Smart Mode toggle is enabled.

  4. Save and publish.

Triggering popups using a timer

The Timed configuration allows you to select a predefined amount of time before your campaign form triggers. Once your page finishes loading, the timer begins. After the specified amount of time has elapsed, BDOW! will display the popup to the visitor.

Here's how to set it up:

  1. Use the design tool to edit a campaign form.

  2. Click the Visibility to access the display settings.

  3. Disable Smart Mode.

  4. Enable the Timed option via its toggle.

  5. Set the desired timing by configuring the Show Popup after fields.

  6. Save and publish your campaign.
